Chapter 386 Analysis and Discussion

Itachi refers to Uchiha Madara as his "accomplice and teacher", and admits that Madara had helped him elminate the Uchiha clan. What were Madara's motives for helping Itachi? What would he gain if Itachi gains the secret and permanent Mangekyou? Madara has made comments on Sasuke's growth and says that "things are moving right along". [link] He also tried persuading Deidara to not fight Sasuke twice. [link] and again [link] Madara even says before the fight that he "will have to apologize to Itachi-san after this". [link] This means that he was aware of Itachi's plans and recognized that Deidara was capable of ruining those plans by killing Sasuke. Itachi was nervous about Deidara going to fight Sasuke too, so he probably realized that possibility as well. [link]
What part does Kisame play in Itachi's plans? How much does he know? There is some evidence that suggests that Kisame is at least somewhat aware of Itachi's plans with Sasuke. Upon hearing that Deidara planned on killing Sasuke, he turns to Itachi and asks if he was okay with that. [link]
There seems to be a contradiction as well. In chapter 385, Itachi says that Madara was the only person in the Uchiha's history to learn the final secret of the Sharingan [link] , but in chapter 386, he says that "for decades the Uchiha killed their friends to obtain the Mangekyou Sharingan and killed their siblings to make its power permanent". [link] So, which is it?
Madara is always referred to as the founder of the Uchiha clan [link] , but in chapter 386 it seemed that there already was an Uchiha clan of which Madara eventually became leader. [link] And what is with Madara's funky Mangekyou? His brother's looks weird too. Does this mean that all Mangekyou Sharingans are different?
The kyuubi attack orchestrated by Madara was 16 years ago according to Itachi. [link] Apparently, this probably means that Naruto and the rest are 16 now. Furthermore, I believe that Minato knew about Madara. In chapter 370, Jiraiya says that Minato knew something of grave importance and entrusted the Kyuubi with Naruto because of that. [link]
Madara lost to the Shodai Hokage despite having an unbeatable Sharingan. [link] Did the Shodai discover a power that would allow him to counter and defeat the power of that Sharingan? In chapter 297 (and the recent episode), Tenzou (Yamato) says that the Shodai's power has the ability to suppress the kyuubi's chakra by force. Madara's eyes has the power to control the kyuubi, and the Shodai's power can suppress and subdue the kyuubi. Their powers counter each other. This means that Tenzou might be VERY important in defeating Madara.
What do these cat people have to do with the Uchiha? [link] Where do they fit in all of this?
When will the issue with Kabuto/Orochimaru be resolved, and what part does that play in the story? What purpose does this serve?
What part will Root play? Jiraiya warns Tsunade of Root in chapter 367 [link] , and Sai's secret mission from Danzou was to kill Sasuke. Is Danzou aware of the Uchiha secret? Was he trying to prevent Itachi from getting a permanent Mangekyou by killing Sasuke? What part will Sai play? His role can't be over yet.
What did Itachi want to tell Naruto back in chapter 366 [link] before he left to go fight Sasuke? Was it important? Will we ever find out?
Sasuke doesn't have the Mangekyou. Why did Itachi tell him everything, and why is he trying to get Sasuke's eyes if Sasuke had not killed his closest friend and gotten the Mangekyou? He knows that Naruto is Sasuke's closest friend. Is that related to what he wanted to talk to Naruto about?

In the *What were Madara's motives for helping Itachi? What would he gain if Itachi gains the secret and permanent Mangekyou?* After thinking for a while, I came to a conclusion. In chapter 386, Itachi said that Madara is "a pathetic shell of his former self". Does it mean that Madara is weaker or does he just have a different body? I have heard through the Internet that some people believe that even if Tobi is Madara, it may be Obito's body. A long time ago I heard someone say that it may be that Madara, being very old by that time, somehow found Obito's body cruched by the rocks and took over his body because he was also a Uchiha. So it may be Obito's body, but he's not alive anymore. But, this is just a thing I heard on the Internet, so it may or may not be true.

I don't think the cat people had a major role in the story. They were just there for convenience.
I don't know about Danzou. I don't think he knows about the Uchiha secret 'cause he would've tried to kill Sasuke with a much larger force. Also, he would've told someone by now. We all know he hates the sandaime and godaime, but he thinks logically and it would have been logical to warn everyone.
On the topic of Kisame, well, he knows Itachi well so I wouldn't be suprised if he knew something.
I never actually thought about yamato that way. You have a very valid point though. I hope Kyuubi appears.
The MS may be different. Kakashi's is different. Kishimoto needs to explain that point.
My thoughts about Kabuto/orochi are that he's going to appear at the time when he can cause the most damage. Kabuto won't come out of hiding until necessary.
Itachi's psycho episode completed his character don't you think?
